ParTiCo - Parental time control
Partico is a free tool that allow you to restrict one or more Windows user accounts in time that they may be available per day. In other words, it's designed to prevent your children from spending too much time in front of PC.
Disclaimer
Please take in mind the following:
- Partico is not suitable for "advanced" children. Despite it is hidden a bit, it still can be revealed and disabled, as long it uses no special protection techniques. Use it if your child is not expected to check such places as Control panel, hidden folders etc.
Why Partico is ...? Why it does't has ....?
Originally, Partico was designed for internal purproses. I just wrote a tool that I needed, and spent only about two hours designing, debugging and testing it (while learning Ruby as well).
However, I decided to share my work and have published it - "as is", with no guarantees that it will fit a particular purprose.
Use it in case it suits you. I'll be happy if you find it useful.

System requirements
- Windows XP SP2 or SP3 (Professional version recommended) (Vista and 7 not tested, but may work as well)
- a separate user account with a password that you are going to restrict
- schtasks.exe tool (see below)
schtasks.exe is a tool provided with Professional version of Windows. If you have Home Edition, you have to download this tool from somewhere on the Web and put it into windows\system32 directory. I cannot publish it right here due to the license restrictions.
To check, whether you have schtasks.exe, press Win key +R, type cmd, press Enter and then type schtasks. If a list appears after you press Enter, then schtasks is installed on your system
Installation
- Download partico.zip
- Make sure your system meet all the requirements
- Unzip partico.zip somewhere
- Run install.cmd and carefully go through the instructions.
When using Partico, a black dos window may appear for a moments while working with a limited account. This is absolutely normal.
